University City real estate is an affordable option by San Diego real estate standards, considering its close proximity to neighboring La Jolla.  University City is an upper-middle-class neighborhood of San Diego homes, often  referred to as the “Golden Triangle”. University City homes are located between Interstate 5 to the West and Highway 805 to the East, bordered by State Route 52 to the south.

Many people mistakenly call University City “UTC” which is actually the name of the shopping mall in the neighborhood… University Town Center.  Either way, University City is a nice neighborhood of moderate houses, along with a large mix of condos and town homes.  Many students from UCSD choose to buy University City real estate, or to rent homes near UTC. Investment properties University City 92122 are a viable option for UCSD students, and the house or condo payments are often more affordable than renting in La Jolla to the West or Del Mar and Carmel Valley to the North.

University City homes were originally built in the 1960’s, south of the Rose Canyon Open Space Preserve.  These are mainly single-family houses, many of which are canyon-view homes. More recent University City real estate developments include a variety of town homes and condominiums between Nobel Drive and La Jolla Village Drive. These include the Venetian, Villa Vicenza, Verano, Lucera, Villa Europa, Renaissance Capri, and numerous other town house and condo complexes.

One of the best retirement home condominium complexes in San Diego is the Pacific Regent La Jolla in University City.  Residents must be age 62 or older. The Pacific Regent La Jolla offers full housekeeping services, underground parking with valet service, a 24-hour concierge, full-time activity director, pool, exercise facility and more.

University City real estate is also very popular as San Diego real estate investment property.  There is a very low vacancy rate due to the popularity of the area with students who attend the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) in La Jolla.
